Burning Permits

Burning is prohibited unless a permit has been issued
by Township Fire Department, Inc.To obtain a burning permit, call 834-6868
between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Burning Hours

6:00PM - Midnight
Monday - Friday
8:00AM - Midnight
Saturday

No burning on Sundays, Holidays or during closed burning periods!
Wind speed and humidity will determine if permits will be issued.

Open Burning
Only dry combustible materials can be burned - such as trees, brush, untreated and unpainted lumber, yard waste and clean paper products.  Someone must be in attendance at the fire until it is completely out.

 
Barrels and Incinerators
Burning without a permit is permitted in approved barrels or incinerators providing that the top of the barrel or incinerator is completely covered with a wire mesh with openings 1/2 inch or less.  Burning in barrels and incinerators is allowed from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday with a permit only.  No burning on Sundays or Holidays.  Someone must be in attendance at the fire until it is completely out.
 
 

Closed Burning Periods
Township Fire Department, Inc. may prohibit all burning during prolonged dry periods or when other conditions make burning hazardous.  Watch for these announcements.
 

Attention Landlords
Property owners are responsible for compliance with these rules by their tenants.
 

Violations
Are punishable by a fine of up to $500.00 plus court costs, up to 90 days imprisonment, or both, and assessment of actual costs for suppressing unauthorized fires.
